San Diego & Borrego Springs

February 9th

We put Jason on a plane back to sunny Puyallup and we decided to extend our stay here in San Diego. One of the first things we did was go to San Diego's "Old Town" and have some really good mexican food and of course margarita's.

Kathy got really into the margarita's. This whole area is a lot fun with plenty of good restaurants.

February 18th. I turned 78 today and woke up to my wife saying, "now you're pushing 79!" She is such a sensitive person.
Our next stop was the world famous San Diego Zoo. This is a great zoo with lots to see. Here are just a few of the pictures we took.

The following day we set out for the San Diego Wild Animal Park and there we saw more animals, birds and creatures.

We saw one creature that didn't make it.

The Lorakeets were a lot of fun. At one time I had 4 of them on my arm. We had more fun in the aviaries. Beautiful birds that ignore humans and let you get up close.

This is going to be spetacular year for wild flowers. Here is a shot of cactus in bloom.
We purchased a 3 park pass which let us to go the both zoo's and Sea World. The shows at Sea
World are spectacular and the Shamu killer whale show is one of the best we've ever seen.

Here are some of the pictures we took.

Look closely at the trainer standing straight up on Shamu's nose. He came out of the water and went about 30 feet into the air
We had the distinct feeling that the sea lions were real beggars.
While at Sea World we decided to go on the ride Atlantis. Supposedly you don't get very wet. Here is a picture at the end of the ride.
One of our side trips was to the cliffs at La Jolla. What a beautiful place.

We spent two evenings at Pacific Beach which was very close to our RV park. Absolutely beautiful sunsets.

One of the places we are trying to get to are the missions. The San Diego Mission was the first one established in California.

The last place we visited was the Coronado Hotel on Coronado Island. It is a beautiful very old hotel with a lot history. We stopped and ate and had some libation. That's "cool" for a drink.

Before leaving we did manage to get in 18 holes of golf on a beautiful day. Slowly our games are improving.
We left San Diego on March 1st., 21 months after we decided to be gypsies! We are now in Borrego Springs for the month of March. It's beautiful and the desert wild flowers are going to be spectacular this year.
So far we have been swimming, walking and yesterday played 18 holes of golf. It is wonderfully quiet, warm and sunny. Both of us are on a mission to get back in shape and lose weight. We are in the perfect place to do that with a great swimming pool, exercise room, hiking trails and a number of golf courses. Wait until our families see us in April.
It's March 6th and I'm going to quit for the time being as all this talk about exercising has me exhausted so I need to take a nap.
More to come.
